Kumon near me

Students start at a level at which they feel comfortable. That personalized starting point, along with a projection of estimated progress, is established for each student individually during a free placement test.

The counselor helps students understand for themselves how to solve math exercises using examples as a guide. This allows them to become more and more autonomous, more self-confident in learning and to be ready to face new challenges without relying on an adult.

Thanks to our study method your child will have a very positive learning experience and a solid foundation that will help their educational future to be happy and satisfactory.

Our students work at the most appropriate level for their ability, regardless of their age. They have the flexibility to review fundamental concepts or advance beyond their school level, which motivates them and makes them enjoy learning.

The origin of the Kumon method is Japanese and owes its name to Toru Kumon. Kumon was a math teacher who, faced with his son Takeshi’s poor results, began to develop activity sheets to encourage a self-learning mindset and math skills. As a teacher, Toru Kumon knew that many students had problems with mathematics because they did not have sufficient mental calculation skills, so he thought of devising this self-learning system. And in this regard, Kumon also felt that good reading comprehension could be of great help to students in acquiring the necessary study skills.

The Kumon method is divided into different levels. It begins with an initial test by the student to check which level to start at, so that until he or she has mastered the knowledge of one level perfectly, he or she cannot move on to the next. It is enough to practice it twice a week, for about half an hour at the academy and dedicate between 10 and 20 minutes the rest of the days at home.
